Body: Discovered the wonders of irregularwebcomic.net; wrote a short python script to sift through all of the source files in the LLVM compiler (from UIUC); need to be able to establish proper copyright ownership and licensing for all of the files, many of them from GCC, many of them from UIUC, and a bunch from other places.

Body: Worked on the Cutting Stock Problem. Found a lot of academic research in specific subproblems of it, but not much in the way of generic solutions.

Body: Tried to figure out how to customize the Morphix distribution. Mostly the battle there is figuring out how to make the compressed disc images. Showed off JOTWeb to Duncan, he seemed impressed, which was kind.

Body: Working on a python wrapper for rrd (oo python-rrdtool), rrd export/import troubleshooting (for moving rrds across platforms). Got a whirlwind tour of JOTWeb; Sean's done lots of cool stuff with that. I look forward to running it on a project. Got a copy of Sean's clever script for updating tummy.com journal entries. I would like to use that as a basis for doing something similar for my own systems, maybe throwing in parts of mesozoic's pickle/vi editor and some of the bits in fzZzy's openit.py. I love clever little scipts like that... being a command line junkie, they are not only aesthetically delightful, but immensly useful. Learned that: the Greens have raised enough money for an Ohio recount (go Greens! raise hell!); Irregular Webcomic exists and is hilarious; there's such a thing as PearPC and you can install OS X on x86 with it; and finally, that the Hacking Society just generally r0x0rz ur b0x0rz.

Body: Played with some cables in the basement. Tried to help Skif find some rectangular nesting calculating software for linux. Wasn't too successful, but did find a free one he may be able to run under freedos. Talked with Charles about some server setup issues, including vpopmail storing passwords in cleartext by default. Looked into modifying Pilot/Morphix linux with Sean. Signed up for a Bloglines account.

Body: read email. Setup a mailing list for someone. Setup a machine to pxe boot debian-installer and attempted an install. The installer didn't like the machine I was installing on, so I used `script -t` to record the problem and examine the error that flashed on the screen right before the screen got blanked. I need to file a bug, but ran out of time.

Body: Various tweaks to my Ubuntu installation. Achieved a major milestone. I sync'd my Treo 300 to evolution 2.1.0 via USB!
