Chapter Name: nclug
Meeting: nclug 2005-11-15
Body: Talked to jafo about OpenWRT; quoth he, "It rocks." Found root cause for a stupid conflict between Win2K, CUPS, and samba so the bloody printer will work at home. Did an update for the Debian numactl package and uploaded it to the queue. Poked at the libatomic-ops package for a bit, too. Then, of course, boingboing.net was read for a while.

Chapter Name: nclug
Meeting: nclug 2005-09-06
Body: chatted on #gcc a lot with some close acquaintances and may have arrived at solutions for world peace and feeding the hungry; learned about the enox ogg player, various interesting iptables kernel patches (thx, jafo).

Chapter Name: nclug
Meeting: nclug 2005-04-05
Body: Drank coffee. Ran into a colleague from work which suprised both of us. Worked on a python script; the goal of the script is to clean up my evolution mail directories from the hazards of rsync. The summary files say what should be in the directory but it looks like there's other cruft left over.

Meeting: nclug 2005-03-15
Body: Ate cookies. Yum. Drank decaf coffee. With cookies. Yum. Updated my Eclipse IDE to most recent bits. Read The Onion. Played around with the Subversion plug-in for Eclipse and actually got it to slurp up an existing project and put it into the repository. Working on a simple linker/loader; decided to write it in C++ using Eclipse, mostly as an exercise in annoying myself and learning new stuff.

Chapter Name: nclug
Meeting: nclug 2005-02-22
Body: Ate cookies, and re-read all of the "At The Show" comics at Westword.com. Caught up on The Onion. Uploaded a small Debian package (libatomic-ops). Started debugging an LLVM bug where the compiler driver segfaults -- easy to reproduce: just run llvmc with almost anything. Read some more about the LLVM internals and all the LLVM commands. Also signed up for the Dr Science mailing list.

Meeting: nclug 2005-02-15
Body: Put together a patch to the 'file' command to recognize LLVM byte-codes properly; will send that to the debian bug report for it -- it was fun to play in 'file' a bit. Wrote a script to register the LLVM byte-code interpreter with the kernel so that it will execute byte-codes directly. Started playing with some timing of generated code and it so far seems competitive with GCC. While I've got a Debian package for LLVM, it still seems to need lots o' work. Very puzzling behavior with STREAMS compilation and LLVM -- as in, I prolly didn't compile it right. Must need more caffeine.

Chapter Name: nclug
Meeting: nclug 2004-12-07
Body: Fixed a couple of FTBS bugs in acovea and libevocosm; did a bunch of lintian cleanup on the same packages and on libcoyotl (both of the lib packages are needed by acovea). Acovea will evaluate all of the available compiler options and determine the optimal set. Uploaded all the fixed versions into the Debian archive. Validated that The Onion is the only source of useful news on the face of the planet.

Chapter Name: nclug
Meeting: nclug 2004-11-30
Body: Started a license audit of the LLVM source files (see http://llvm.cs.uiuc.edu) in preparation for Debian packaging (urk, 12K+ files). So far, I'm amazed at the number of files out of the borrowed GCC front-end that have _no_ copyright or ownership info directly in them and rely on the COPYING/README file to cover them. Very sloppy, IMHO. Ate way too many of Eileen's Cookies (mmm...molasses...).

Chapter Name: nclug
Meeting: NCLUG 2004-11-16
Body: Discovered the wonders of irregularwebcomic.net; wrote a short python script to sift through all of the source files in the LLVM compiler (from UIUC); need to be able to establish proper copyright ownership and licensing for all of the files, many of them from GCC, many of them from UIUC, and a bunch from other places.

Date: 2004-10-26 21:56:26.416905
Chapter Name: nclug
Meeting: NCLUG 2004-10-26
Body: worked on getting LLVM (Low-Level Virtual Machince) working on x86; build is borked, pretty serious like, and has to be done very carefully.

This is a new project to collect documentation on how to use and install Debian GNU/Linux on various laptops, based on a discussion started on the debian-laptop mailing list. Started building docbook templates for the documentation and building the debian package structure.
