Body: I researched bump and displacement maps in OpenGL, trying to come up with ideas to accelerate Jim Hauser's virtual terrain program. I also "researched" the contents of the Gentoo games directories. I can report that sdlasteroids and blobwars are pretty fun.

Body: I'm working on getting xcompmgr to run at a fixed 30Hz update. I don't know what the exact effects will be, but it will be interesting! I'm hoping that it will at least reduce the CPU usage of window drags somewhere below 99%. :-)
